SLIMEFEST '99, Part I

Hoppy's first SLIMEFEST is starting off great. 16 folks made the trek for day one. Hoppy and wife Patti, Snarl and Jeanne, Heekster and Barb, Dickhaid and Tina, Jim and Mikey, Dugan and Lynn, myself and wife Nancy, Da Madman, and the Queen of the Slugs, MaGGie.

Da MadMan gave a very animated tale of how he happened to plow through some barbed wire on his then brand new used ape-hanger harley with the foot clutch and hand shifter and an engine that didn't want to idle requiring massive amounts of throttle at all times... Ask him about it!

The park ranger and Snarl got nose to nose over the parking spot Snarl chose for the '37 knuck - Ranger Rick thought it belonged on the parking pad away from the spotted owls and various other endangered species and Snarl agreed but it was a matter of when to do it. Ranger Rick wanted it moved *RIGHT GAWDDAMN NOW!* and Snarl thought when he got around to it was soon enough. After a threat to have it impounded and hauled off to a land fill, it was rolled the disputed 8 feet to a well sculpted santuary for motorized vehicles and away from the threatened species which had gathered to watch.

Last evening the skies opened up big time with unannounced thunder and lightening and pounding rain. Looks like it's blown through the area and blue skies will be returning.

The itinerary is:
Friday will likely be a repeat of Thursday with folks motoring in and getting set up and introduced.

Saturday, 9:00 am, da MadMan will lead the pack to a breakfast spot via colorful sideroads after which the ride around the mountain will proceed. I' will be whipping up my chili afterwards, and there will be a giveaway of a couple diggeriedoos and more BSing.

Sunday at some reasonable hour the ride to the Brick Tavern in Roslyn begins. This town is better known as Cicely, Alaska from the TV show Northern Exposure.

There is still plenty of room - we can have multiple tents in each site and there's plenty of parking so long as you don't ruffle Ranger Rick's spotted feathers.

More to come! Looks like a big chili feed is in the works. Randy Scurr and Sandy are rumored to be bringing a big pot O' beans so bring your appetite.
