Into's in order here, hello everyone, my name is "Pete", I've been mostly in the background here at RMH and also AMH, but now that I've been Slimed, I though this would be a good time to give a ride report. Pull up a stool, Barkeep,,round's on me. The most memorable ride I can remember was the Summer of 2000, its been a while since I've rode, back in the late 70's early 80's, and have been waiting to get back on two wheels for a long time, this last summer I had the opportunity to ride with a good friend and co-worker from Dover, DE. to Myrtle Beach S.C. The orginal plan was to leave the Friday before Bike week *early*, and stay 'till Monday or Tuesday, well half of the plan was good, Jessie *my Bud* had other VFW things to do the following week so we cut the time short. Anyway's Friday AM, rise and shine at 04:30am, Jessie wanted to be on the Road by 6:00am.The bike was packed and gassed, last minute stuff and we were on our way to meet Jessie on the road, the temp was about 56 so no reason to pack the leather and chaps, Jessie always 15 minutes early for everthing was already waiting for me at the gas station in Dover. forgot to mention, I'm doing this trip on my Sportry and Jessie and his in a 98 Road King, I though it would be a real pain in the ass with the peanut tank, but I found out later, it was a blessing. We got started down RT 13 about 6:20am, not much to report *your in Delaware, ya know*, only one problem, within an hour I started having problems with the bike cutting out during shifts, Tell ya about that later in the report. We decided to take the scenic route which is basically RT13 over (and under) the Chesapeak bay bridge tunnel. to RT17. I have to say the bridge/tunnel was a real treat, I've been over in a cage, and its OK, but on a bike its really great, about 2 hours into the ride I need gas and a smoke, butt break *not yet*. we stopped, got gas stripped the leather, had a smoke, and started out again. The gas and smoke breaks continued about ever 80 miles, *had to,,,tank too small*, well about the 3rd and a half stop I was praying that Jessie's butt was as soar as mine, the longest run I did before this was rollin' thunder in D.C, that's about 90 miles, no big deal, this 500 and some miles in one day was starting to seem too much. It was about 6 or 7pm, as far as i can remember, and i signaled to Jessie , may be a good time to stop and EAT, Jessie reluctantly agreed. We stopped at a local gas/truck stop, what a GREAT place, gas,food,archade,lockers,showers,....etc what more could you ask for, we ordered something off the menu, *I suffer from CRS also* talked to some folks passing thru, had a laugh or two and got back on the road again. From that last stop 'till the time we got to our destination is still a blurr, It was dark, she was cranky, and I saw no end in sight of our journey. When we finally got to Myrtle Beach the only think I remember next was going to the hotel, getting the keys to the room, when we *the wife and I* got in the room we saw it had a hot tub, we immedialy stripped, filled that sucker up, turned on the jets and dove in, about 10 minutes in that sucker and we nearly fell asleap, 549 miles and 15 hours of riding started melting away. Day 2 *a MUCH better day* continues on my next report, we meet a lot of great people and "thanks to the guys at "EASYRIDER" . you'll see why.
